Born in Kobe Japan, I enjoyed painting as a child. It became clear at an early age that I was destined for a career in fine arts. My work can be described as realistic with a European and Japanese flavor; I'm both precise and perceptive of architectural details. After graduating from Musashino Art University, Japan, I worked one year for an interior design company in Japan, later joining a housing exterior company for 4 years as a professional perspective creator. Moving on to pursue my passion in watercolor painting, I then focused on botanical watercolors. My work was selected for the American Society of Botanical Artists 3rd Annual Show in New York, 2000. At that time I also began to work on children's portraits. Moving to Boston in 2004, my works were exhibited at art associations in Newton and Concord. I was selected for the Lyme Art Association Invitational Show in 2005 and a 2006 invitation to do a solo show at the Concord Free Public Library in Concord, MA followed. Recently I became eager to start illustration work which stemmed from childhood memories of copying out of children's books. Through work in Japan such as a book cover for Paroru Publishing Company, greeting cards, post cards and stationary, I'm now longing to do more illustration of books and book covers.
I would like to develop my internal world as well as my drawing skill. I wish for my artwork to bring dignity and depth and perhaps give some peace of mind or healing to those who view them. Book cover illustration could help me achieve this. Book illustration would also expand my field. My style is best described as whimsical, painterly, playful, imaginative and harmonious; it lends itself to calendars, magazine covers, packaging, posters, print collateral, gifts, novelties, and coloring books.
