Kathy Vargas

Kathy Vargas is best known for her contemporary interpretation of classic art. From detailed Fashion Illustrations to surrealistic landscapes to abstracts, Kathy focuses on creating phenomenal color definitions that showcase various moods.

Kathy graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where she studied Fine Art, History of Art and Civilization, and Fashion Illustration. She applied her illustration and fine arts skills for publications such as Road And Track and Sea Magazine, ultimately leading her to the position of Assistant Art Director at Biarritz magazine which featured her illustrations. Enamored with utilizing all mediums, Kathy explores a myriad of techniques, making her artistic style unparalleled.

In earlier years, with a passion for reading, Kathy worked as a proofreader at The Reading Game, a reading development company, where she also illustrated some of the stories.

During January to April 2019, Kathy’s solo exhibition took place at the Anaheim Sheraton, showcasing her collections of realistic fashion iIllustrations and acrylic abstract paintings.

With artwork sold throughout the country, she enjoys creating commissioned pieces, as well as donating her original pieces to various charities.

Kathy works closely with a women’s fashion designer illustrating her designs for production. In September 2019, Kathy attended New York Fashion Week and had the thrill of seeing her illustrations come alive on the runway.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Kathy now resides in Southern California working out of her home studio.
